How to use this hashtag generator
Most free hashtag generator tools hand you a block of thirty tags and leave you to paste them. This one groups them by size and tells you how many to use, because those are the two things that decide whether hashtags do anything at all.
1. Describe your post
Type what the post is about and pick the platform. Being specific matters more than being broad, because the useful hashtags are the specific ones.
2. Get them grouped by reach
Hashtags come back in three tiers: broad, medium and niche. Mixing sizes is what keeps a post visible, and it is the part most generators skip entirely.
3. Use the recommended few
The tool tells you how many to actually post for your platform, and gives you that set ready to copy. The full pool is there to choose from, not to paste wholesale.
How many hashtags should you actually use?
Fewer than you have probably been told. The advice to fill all 30 Instagram slots comes from a period when hashtag browsing was a real discovery channel. It is not any more: Instagram removed hashtag following, shifted to recommendation-led feeds, and has said plainly that hashtags do not meaningfully increase reach.
- Instagram. Around 3 to 5 relevant tags. The 30 cap still exists, but using it is not the advice any more.
- TikTok. 3 to 5, specific and descriptive. Broad tags are so saturated they carry almost no signal, which is what a hashtag generator tiktok users can trust has to account for.
- Facebook. 1 to 3. Hashtags do least here of any major platform, so a hashtag generator for facebook posts should return restraint rather than volume.
- LinkedIn. 3 to 5. These behave as followable topics, so a few professional ones put you in front of people tracking that subject.
This is why the tool leads with a short recommended set and puts the full pool underneath. The pool is for choosing from.
Why hashtags are grouped by reach
A hashtag with 40 million posts and one with 4,000 do completely different jobs, and using only the first kind is the most common mistake. On a huge tag your post is buried within seconds by accounts far larger than yours. On a small, specific tag it can stay near the top for hours, in front of people who chose to look at that subject.
So the generator returns three tiers. Broad tags are worth one or two picks for the chance of a spike. Medium tags are where most of your choices should come from. Niche tags reach fewer people but a much higher proportion of the right ones. That mix outperforms any single tier used alone, and it is the part a flat list of thirty tags cannot give you.
